HS^2 students at Retzer Nature Center working on cleaning up trails and building up the "birds nest" for Community Day!

While a lot of students have started leaving for their community day assignments outside of the building, students are hard at work here at the school already! Students have started to prep summer school materials, deep clean the HS^2 rooms, complete sewing projects, and make lasagna for Lasagna Love!

Today is the day! Today our students are engaging in some organized chaos as they participate in various community events both inside and outside of the school building for our spring Community Day! We are excited for all of the opportunities that have been made available for our students, and we're very grateful for everyone that helps make this day run successfully!

Newly graduated HS^2 senior Katie F. is one of only three students serving on Girl Scout of Wisconsin Southeast's (GS WISE) Board of Directors this year. On the Board, she helps influence policy regarding council goals and issues affecting girls. She is also involved in strategic planning, financial oversight, and fund development. She not only advises the CEO and is a facilitator of high impact programs for the council but carries full voting rights and status. Notable experiences have included leading the candle ceremony at the Highest Awards Ceremony, representing GS WISE at the TEMPO leadership conference, and overseeing the rock wall at Camp Alice Chester's 100th Anniversary Celebration.

CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2025 ON YOUR SCHOLARSHIPS!!!! Students were celebrated at the Senior Awards Night on Thursday for awards from non-profits, associations and their colleges/universities. Many scholarships awarded were from our very own Kettle Moraine Education Foundation (KMEF). KMEF was pleased to distribute 120 scholarships totaling $120,000 to students this year, thanks to the many families, civic organizations, school clubs and businesses in our local community that sponsor awards. A huge thank you to all scholarship donors and congratulations seniors! 43 WORKS PUBLISHED BY KM STUDENTS IN ART OF WRITING ANTHOLOGY!!! The anthology, which includes original stories, drawings, sculptures, and photographs, is a collection of work created as part of the Art of Writing: Young Authors and Artists Conference held this past December. More than 400 students from across Wisconsin participated in the conference, which is co-sponsored by the Kettle Moraine School District and the Milwaukee Art Museum. Inspired by the museum’s masterpieces, students produced reflective and imaginative responses that demonstrate the powerful intersection of visual and literary arts. The resulting anthology celebrates student voices and visions from all corners of Wisconsin.
“We’re incredibly proud of our students and their exceptional creativity,” said teacher Terry Kaldhusdal, who coordinates the conference with his wife, Janet. “This program not only highlights their talents, but also fosters a deep appreciation for art and storytelling.” One excerpt is from Kettle Moraine 7th grader Bryn M., who wrote, “After all, dreams are like trees. They branch off from your soul, growing deep roots that stay with you forever…” The Art of Writing conference and publication are a longstanding tradition that celebrates young creators and highlights the powerful connection between education and the arts. We've featured Malenna’s artwork and Lacy’s photo, but the complete publication and list of published works is available at http://artofwritingconference.com.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025!
